The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Advocacy defines a small business as an independent enterprise with less than 500 employees. Per this SBA (PDF), there are more than 27 million small businesses in the United States, with about 21 million of them classified as not having employees. This means that the vast majority of small businesses are comprised of self-employed individuals just trying to make things work. They may be full-time entrepreneurs, or they might be working on their enterprise part-time, at night, or on the weekends, when they are home from their day job.

To put it simply, there are a lot of people who are self-employed, working as their own boss, in every single imaginable industry in America. At Business Service Reviews, we celebrate these individuals who have turned away from the conventional path of working for someone else, as an employee. We want to bring their stories to you, our readers, in hopes that they inspire you to take action towards becoming an entrepreneur.
